| As I sit here writing this entry, I can't help reflecting on the past two years. I don't know what it was that caused me to stop writing here. It used to be cathartic for me, but somewhere along the line that changed. There was a time I would share my thoughts indiscriminately without giving a second thought to who was reading my writings. I've become more self-conscious since then, more aware of the all-to-pubic nature of this medium. Yet, there was something drawing me back. Maybe it is the desire to fancy myself a writer once again. As if the voice this modest website gives me, qualifies me as one.
So often in my life it is something I see or read that moves me and compels me to share my thoughts with the world. In this instance, it was watching the wonderful movie, Adaptation. It so beautifully captured the struggle and joy of writing and reminded me of what I was missing in my life. I hope I can recapture that joy and maybe finally make some real progress on that short-story I've been meaning to write.
Recently, I made a commitment to share my life with a wonderful woman. In the past, I would have written all the details of my courtship here for the world to read. But that would be betraying the trust she has placed in me. Some things should remain private and left to be shared with family and close friends. I want to thank her though for helping inspire me to write again.
I would like to get back into the habit of writing here again. I just have to find that happy medium between full disclosure and banal discourse. The struggle of every writer is to find their voice and I'm sure that I will find mine in due time.
It feels good to be back!
